Mortgage Leaders from Across the Country to Gather in Chicago for the 2026 Minority Homeownership Conference

Chicago, IL — Mortgage professionals, housing advocates, and industry leaders from across the United States will convene in Chicago on March 19–20 for the 2026 Minority Homeownership Conference a national event focused on addressing the persistent homeownership gap and expanding access to sustainable housing, this focusing on Origination, Ownership and Opportunity.

The conference is hosted by the Black Mortgage Professional Alliance (BMPA) and will take place at the Wind Creek Chicago Southland Hotel & Casino.

Founded by mortgage industry leader Jennifer Gormer, and lead by Industry Leaders on the Executive Leadership Team, Major Singleton (Edge Home Finance), Lamont Harris (Harris Capital), Corey Singleton (Inspire Mortgage) and Kelvin Oliver (Kore Mortgage). BMPA has rapidly become a leading national alliance focused on empowering mortgage professionals and expanding access to homeownership in underserved communities.

The two-day event will feature industry leaders, housing experts, and policymakers discussing strategies to increase minority homeownership and improve financial literacy for prospective homebuyers.

The conference will also feature keynote speaker Dr. Boyce Watkins, nationally recognized economist, author, and financial educator known for his work on wealth building and economic empowerment as featured on ABC, CNN, NBC News, BET and other national media.

“This conference is about bringing together leaders who are serious about closing the homeownership gap,” said Gormer. “We need solutions, collaboration, and a real commitment to expanding access to homeownership for families across the country.”

The event follows the recent release of the The Black Homeownership Playbook: How We Close the Gap, developed by the Broaker Action Coalition and led by Gormer in her role as Chairwoman of the Black Homeownership Council. The playbook outlines strategies designed to increase homeownership opportunities and strengthen financial pathways for underserved communities.

The conference will feature panel discussions, expert training sessions, and collaboration between mortgage lenders, brokers, housing organizations, and financial professionals.

Dr. Jennifer Gormer was also recently named a 2024 Mortgage Professional America (MPA) Elite Woman and 2025 MPA Elite Woman (MPA) of Industry Visibility and Influential, recognizing her growing national leadership in housing and mortgage advocacy.

Industry sponsors supporting the conference include United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM), along with other partners working to expand responsible lending and homeownership opportunities.
